Synoptic Measurements Of Ground-Water Levels In Major Aquifers In The Twin Cities Metropolitan Area

by Chris Sanocki and Sue Langer.

Water-Level Measurement.

Water-Level Measurement.

The goal of this study is to measure water-levels in 3 aquifers, the Prairie du Chien-Jordan, Franconia-Ironton-Galesville and Mt. Simon-Hinckley, in winter and summer of 2008. The winter and summer water-levels will be compared and a change map will be completed for each aquifer. The winter 2008 water-levels for the Prairie du Chien-Jordan and the Mt. Simon-Hinckley aquifers will be compared to water-levels from a previous synoptic completed in the winter of 1989. This project will improve the understanding of aquifer response to seasonal and long-term changes in water withdrawals.
