The agenda and other details of the 2001 UZIG meeting are now on the website: http://mn.water.usgs.gov/uzig/meetings.htm Ground-water contamination, recharge of aquifers, and the management of land affected by waste disposal, agriculture, and mining are major topics to be addressed at this biannual meeting. The 2001 meeting is cosponsored by the Department of Energy, Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL), and the University of Idaho. About half of the expected 150 participants will be from the USGS, and the remainder from DOE, Universities, and other institutions. The program includes about 80 presentations of research findings and future needs concerning the soil, rock, and other materials between the land surface and the water table. For a sampling, look at the five abstracts attached below. An all-day field trip will visit sites of waste-management and geologic interest at the INEEL.
